Being a musician I feel a strong connection between aural and visual arts. I rarely view visual art without imagining some form of music/ambience to match it, likewise I can't hear a song I like without some form of visuals popping into my head. Mostly it's fairly abstract, but if a song really grabs me it's as if a mini-music video is going on in my brain.
All of my pictures posted with a song for their title and lyrics for the description were done to a constant loop of that track while I went through all stages of creation, from concept to inks. I feel this helps draw the energy from the song into my work; help capture the mood.
These pictures are not attempts to illustrate the songs, nor are they necessarily directly personal pictures. They are merely songs that I feel such a strong connection to the 'texture' of the song that I feel compelled to draw to it.
As I have a few and plan to do more, I hope this helps anyone viewing understand where I'm coming from artistically on these works.
